Pen weights setting:

On your plot window (Print then click on Plot style table)
If you do not see any CTB, only STB, close the window, type convertpstyles then enter. This will convert STB to CTB.

Type convertpstyles then enter

Creating your own Plot Style
On AutoCAD, select File then Plot
On your plot window, on Plot Style Table, select New (at the bottom)

When asked, select Start from scratch

Give a name you can remember
Click on Plot Style Table Editor

You are going to set Pen 1 through 7 only
All color at the color window should be changed to Black
This applies to all pens from 1 to 7

Change the line weights to the following:

Pen 1 - 0.05 mm - red
Pen 2 - 0.1 mm - yellow
Pen 3 - 0.15 mm - green
Pen 4 - 0.25 mm - cyan
Pen 5 - 0.35 mm - blue
Pen 6 - 0.45 mm - magenta
Pen 7 - 0.6 mm - black (seen as white)

All color at the color window (the top box) should be changed to Black


 

Printing
Plotter Setup
1 Turn on the plotter. Wait until it stops.
2 Feed your paper vertical (portrait). Keep the paper straight. Right edge is in-between two lines.
3 Plotter checks if the paper is straight. Wait until it stops.
If READY light is on, it is ready to go.
If not, do it over again. Keep the paper straight.
Do not feed thick papers.
If it jams paper, try pressing white rollers down by your finger.

Computer Setup
Use the computer on the left side of HP220 Plotter

1 Open the file you are going to plot.
2 Select "FILE".
3 Select "PLOT". PLOT window opens.
4 Select "Plot Device"
5 Select plotter name "HP 220"
6 Select Plot style table "monochrome" (See creating your own Plot Style below)
7 Select Plot setting tab

8 Select Paper size
Select paper size in the plotter.
Letter is 8.5x11
ARCH C is 18"x24" (portrait)
ARCH D is 24'x36" (portrait)
ARCH E is 32'x40" (portrait)
9 Select "OK".
10 Type in the plot scale. "scale to fit"
If you are plotting inscale, chose the scale at this window
1/4"=1'-0"
1/8"=1'-0"
11 Select "WINDOW".
12 Select image using BOX.
13 Make sure the Drawing orientation is "portrait"
14 Select Shade plot
Please do not use Shade. It takes too much ink.
Use "wireframe" or "hidden" for line drawings.
15 Select "FULL PREVIEW"
You see what it looks like printed.
White box is the paper.
Press Escape button to go back to Plot window
16 Select "OK" or repeat at step 9.
Select "OK" at PLOT MAIN MENU.
