AutoCAD Tutorial

How to apply photo on solids
AutoCAD and PhotoShop(or any graphic program) used

To start this operation, please create a folder at one location for all photo images. Images are linked to AutoCAD so if moved or copied, the link is broken and photo images will not show up on your AutoCAD.

Obtain a photo image by download or scan.

Crop
Open PhotoShop and crop the photo to just outside of the red and white kimono.

Open AutoCAD and set the unit to Architectural. (Format/Unit/Architectural)
Insert the photo into AutoCAD (Insert/Ruster Image/find your image in the photo folder/OK/computer asks the location and size of photo/just click your mouse)

Image size change
Scale the height of the kimono image (DI/click at top/click at bottom)
For example, it says 8-1/2" high, you need to enlarge it to the true dimension (say 5' high)

5' x 12" = 60"

60" / 8.5" = 7.059 (use this multiplier)

Type SCALE then enter
Click at one corner of the image
Type 7.059 then enter

Making Poly Line
Type PL then trace the kimono. Use C-enter to close the PL at the end.

Copy and Extrude
Copy the P-Line and extrude it by 1"
(Tyep CO/enter/click on PL/enter/Click on PL/move to side/click)
(Type EXT/enter/click on the PL/enter/1/enter/enter)
